Djerv

SOURCEWEBZINE – With “Djerv” it seems you’ve made an effort to sound analogue and raw, is there a sense of trying to record an album that conveys a 80’s punk rock vibe?

Agnete Kjølsrud (V) – Maybe not 80′s but surely a punk rock vibe. We wanted a raw sound and it would’nt supprice me if we get even further with the next album.

SOURCEWEBZINE – What dictates how a Djerv album is going to sound? Is it based on how you are feeling at the time, or is it based on a grander thought process?

Agnete Kjølsrud (V) – Erlend, Stian and I dictates how a Djerv album is going to sound. We want it to be a rock`n roll sound, but we want to add some coldness and darkness, in terms of the country we are from. It is an ungoing process, and we are not very spontanius doing just what we feel then and there. No. We have a vision.

SOURCEWEBZINE – You recently filmed a video for the track “Madman”. Could you tell us a little bit about the video. Whose came up with the idea to it?

Agnete Kjølsrud (V) – We have allways an idea of what we want, and it`s important to be on the same page as the directors. The mainguy we worked with, is going to make the next video as well. We think he`s great at what he do and it`s really inspiering to discuss ideas with him. We wanted to make a video with a clean and simple veiw to it. We like the expression; less is more.

SOURCEWEBZINE – In your mind, what kinds of themes or emotions do you think the music is expressing?

Agnete Kjølsrud (V) – Desperation, survival instinct, joy, interaction, anger, pride…to name a few.

SOURCEWEBZINE – Norway is home of many known metal bands. How much attention does Djerv receive from the national media and people in general?

Agnete Kjølsrud (V) – The feedback has been really good, and reviews overwelming. There are a lot of bands in Norway, but the music scene is still pretty small, if you know what I mean. Wich means that the most of us are friends or acquaintances. Djerv has already done a lot of cool conserts in Norway from small sweat clubs, to bigger festivals and been embraced by the metal scene as well, playing on main stage on Inferno 2011. We are doing pretty good, I think, still we are of course to heavy to get on radio and things like that. Norway has unfortunately no radio rock chanel.

SOURCEWEBZINE – What do you think about the Brazilian metal scene? Do you know much about our bands?

Agnete Kjølsrud (V) – I don`t know anything about it. You have to give me some recommendations! Erlend and Stian would have given you a much better answer…

SOURCEWEBZINE – Do you have any ideas of what could be done to reverse the negative trend the music industry is currently heading in?

Agnete Kjølsrud (V) – I don`t really know…make it even easier to buy stuff in the internet? It is weird… musicians are using so much time, effort and money to make a really good product, just to let others getting it for free… it`s so sad.
It is very difficult to try to make it as an artist these days. BUT it is what it is…

SOURCEWEBZINE – Do you momentarily make enough money to live from being a musician?

Agnete Kjølsrud (V) – No, there are so many bands and the only way to survive is to tour. That means that all bands need to get on the road, wich means that there are to many bands fighting to get their night on the club. This also means that the audience has to many bands to chose from. It is really hard, I´m afraid, but when you feel that this is wat I need to do, there is no other option.

SOURCEWEBZINE – Care to say something to your fans?
