SOURCE – When the writing process for “Blood” began, did you approach it any differently than your first three albums?
Chris Howorth (Guitar/Vocals) – Yes it was completely different, it was just Maria, Kevin Churko and myself doing everything this time without any other opinions in the mix, and instead of doing 12 songs all at once with strict deadlines, we did one song at a time and worked on them until they were finished, it was an amazing way to make an album.
SOURCE – Since the album is so diverse, did you have any trouble with the song order?
Chris Howorth (G/V) – Not really, it all fell into place rather quickly, once we listened to it a few times we all agreed on the order pretty fast.
SOURCE – What inspired your cover artwork for this one?
Chris Howorth (G/V) – We took a bunch of pictures from our video shoot and the shot we used for the cover jumped out at us, Maria had the idea of the faceless painted girls and the imagery just worked great for the album cover.
SOURCE – Do you pay attention to the reviews of your albums?
Chris Howorth (G/V) – Well I read them cause I am curious about whats being said, but we don’t let it affect us if it’s negative, the more popular a band gets the more people want to hate on them, is almost like a sign you are doing good, if people are talking trash your band is probably on the right track!
SOURCE – You’ve had some lineup changes since the last album. How are Randy Weitzel (guitar) and Tom Hane (drums) fitting in?
Chris Howorth (G/V) – They are doing great! Great players and great people, the band is tighter than ever and it feels great!
SOURCE – How difficult is it to put together a set list with such an extensive back catalog?
Chris Howorth (G/V) – It’s actually pretty easy, we have certain songs that we “have” to play that the fans want, and then we pick a bunch of new songs that we want to promote and start playing them, you can tell pretty quick if a song is going to work live or not.
SOURCE – Social media has become essential for bands to connect with fans. How involved are you on a personal level with platforms like Facebook and Twitter?
Chris Howorth (G/V) – We totally support that stuff and we got our start with the help of MySpace and we personally talk to our fans and monitor the posts and stuff, it’s a great way to keep in touch with the fans and promote our music.
SOURCE – The music industry has obviously changed dramatically in the past 10 years. Where do you see it going from here?
Chris Howorth (G/V) – I don’t really know, it is a constantly changing environment but a lot of things will never change people are always going to want music and we will just have to adapt to the changes as they come, we will keep living in the moment.
SOURCE – Any chance of a South American tour?
Chris Howorth (G/V) – We would love to come to south America! I hope it happens in the future, we get a lot of messages from our South American fans, it would be great to play for them!
SOURCE – Anything else you’d like to mention or promote?
Chris Howorth (G/V) – Just keep your eyes open for In This Moment and go buy “Blood”. See you in Brazil !
