 BITCH ALERT

SOURCE - First off before we start this conversation could you please introduce yourself to our readers and tell us a brief history of your band, BITCH ALERT?
HEINIE (B) - We started out as a girl trio back in 1997. Kimmo replaced the former bassist in 1999 and our line-up was ready. Right now we’re just about to release our 4th studio album in Finland s that’s very exciting. So far we’ve toured Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Great Britain. We’ve also played in Estonia and Russia.

You can find out the latest news and the older stories from www.bitchalert.org

S - What is the meaning behind the album title "Kill Your Darlings" ?
MARITTA (D) - It’s about finding the right songs for the album in a whole and having no choice but to leave some of the other songs out from the album even though you really love them.

S - What was the response to the last BITCH ALERT record like after the two years ?
M - We had different style of production on it so it kind of made
people have different opinions about it.

People either seemed to totally love the sounds or then not really like the “indie-styled” production. We loved it of course. With the album, we managed to reach even more listeners for our music It was a kind of “indie break through” for us. People really seem to know us better after “KYD”.

We see a lot more people coming to gigs etc.

S - How's the cooperation with Poko Records ? For how many albums did you sign/how many do you still have to do for them ?
M - Poko and us, we really have trust on each other. They’ve been very supportive and believe in us.

We’ve made four albums for Poko Rekords/Gaga Goodies so far and at the moment we go one album at a time.

S - What was the last album you bought ?
M - It was Coheed & Cambria’s new album which is brilliant! All of us love that band. Wonderful music.

S - How much has internet helped to get your band name around to people´s lips? What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of the internet in your opinion if we only try to keep the main focus on your band activities ?
H - Heinie: The internet is full of opportunities! We have a big MySpace fan collective, a band website (www.bitchalert.org), a street team, a guestbook, email, contact, fansites, forums etc.

We can communicate through these within minutes with people all around the world. We have the latest info of for example the gigs behind one click of the mouse.

S - Tell us a little a bit about your interests outside of making music. Don't you ever feel like taking a break from it all since you have so much going on at once that is purely music related ? What is it that you like to do not dealing with music ?
M - When you really start thinking about it, everything in my life
seems to be music related, haha.

My favourite thing to do on my free time is to go see other bands play! ;) But then again, I really don’t get tired of music, as you suggested, and I don’t really feel like taking a break from it anyway.

S - Do you consider it possible to eventually earn enough money from the band ?
M - Hopefully one day we’ll be able to provide ourselves with the music we make.

S - What are the main bands, metal/punk/hardcore magazines and webzines in Finland for you ?
H - Main bands: SUPERCHRIST, THE PRISONDREAM, CANDY CANE, LAPKO.

Main mag: Rumba.

Main website: www.noise.fi

S - Let's talk a little about you. I didn't realize until recently that you actually worked for Poko Records.
M - I do work for Poko Rekords, I’ve worked for them for almost a year now...

I’ve studied marketing and promotion for years beside of
the band and I started at Poko last summer. At Poko I’ve been able to work for BITCH ALERT and our street team and whenever we have tours, I’ve been able to take time off work.

Plus I knew all the people and they knew me and my history with BITCH ALERT and Poko even before I started working. It’s been really nice working in here.

S - What are the main goals, if any, that you and the band hope to accomplish in the long run ? How much more life fo you feel BITCH ALERT has left ?
H - This band is like a working family unite. We’ve just made a new album and are anxious to go touring. We are learning all the time how to be a better band live and how to write even better songs.

There’s loads of inspiration left!! Be aware of the killer bunnies, be aware of us! ;)

S - That's about it from my end. Anything else to add ?

H - Kisses to the readers! Kis.Kis.Kis.Kis.

M - … and keep on checking out www.bitchalert.org for the latest info, gigs etc. Thanks!
