MACHINAE SUPREMACY
// Falber Teles
SOURCEWEBZINE - Hi, first off before we start doing this interview could you please be so nice and introduce yourself to our readers and tell us something about your band mates?
GAZ (VOCALS) - Hey. I’m Gaz, the vocalist in MACHINAE SUPREMACY. My band mates are Gibli and Gordon on guitar, Poe on bass, and Tom on drums.
SOURCEWEBZINE - Did you set out to record "Redeemer" with a fairly similar end-result in mind as you did with your previous album then?
G - Well, in terms of what to do with it when it was done, how to release it and all, we knew just as little as we had before, but we had a few mental notes regarding the music. All in all, the goal was to make a great album with interesting music, and I think we succeeded in that.
SOURCEWEBZINE - Having only "Redeemer", how does it stack up with your earlier records ?
G - For us, “Redeemer” is a whole new world compared to “Deus Ex Machinae”, especially with the new mixing and mastering. Definitely our best work so far, but a lot of people still love “Deus Ex Machinae” as well as our earlier web releases. We’ve evolved a lot since then, and it shows, but the old material still stands strong on its own.
SOURCEWEBZINE - If you were looking to make a good impression with this record, you're succeeded. It sounds great !
G - Thanks. It goes to show that you can accomplish pretty much without expensive equipment or virtually any budget.
SOURCEWEBZINE - Would you describe your songs as heavy metal ?
G - Not really, no. I think it qualifies as some sort of metal, but I wouldn’t know exactly how to describe it. We usually say it’s melodic metal with video game influences, to make it simple.
SOURCEWEBZINE - How content are you with Spinefarm Records, do they
deliver what you had hoped for?
G - So far they’ve been really great, no doubt about it, but we’ve only been with them for a few months, so a lot of what we’re hoping for remains to be seen.
SOURCEWEBZINE - Do you all have a 'proper' job in your daily life?
G - More or less. Tom and Poe have clerk jobs, and Gibli, Gordn and myself run our own game music production company.
SOURCEWEBZINE - In the end I would like to know a bit about your music taste so reveal us your favourite albums from the year 2006 so far.
G - NoFX’s “Wolves in Wolves’ clothing”, RX Bandit’s “And The Battle Begun”, and Raised Fist’s “Sound of The Republic” are the best ones I’ve heard this year.
SOURCEWEBZINE - So you come from Sweden. How´s the metal scene doing there at the moment? recommend us some underground act from Sweden.
G - We definitely have a sweet metal scene here. I guess Sweden is pretty famous for bands like IN FLAMESand that whole genre, but I prefer the less known SOILWORK. Underground band recommendation: INJA. They’ve got their first album coming out pretty soon, I think.
SOURCEWEBZINE - Do you have anything to say or add for closure ?
G - Let’s born to rock.
