DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY
// Falber Teles
SOURCE - Please tell us your name and position in the band.
JEREMIAH SCOTT (G) - Jeremiah scott, I play guitar and write for the band. I also record it all.
SOURCE - "Devour The Power" marks your debut on the Metal Blade Records/Black Market Activities. Tell us about the how the album came together ?
JS - We started recording the album ourselves in my new studio, to get stuff out there “diy” as well as break in the new studio gear. Guy K from the Red Chord started talking to us while we were recording about signing to his label Black Market Activities. I quit my job to do the record and when it was finished, we signed.
SOURCE - Could you give me a detailed report on how the studio recordings of your latest album have progressed? How much time did you spend on the album?
JS - Since I quit my job to record us, I had to do other projects in my new studio to make a little money, so the album got moved to the side a few times. Also, we weren’t signed yet so there was no deadline. All in all it took 3 months to complete.
SOURCE - What activities are you involved in besides this specific band?
JS - I record other bands. I have a studio called Anthem Studios in Nashville, TN.
SOURCE - Do you have any idea how large an audience you have in Scandinavian ? You have a very Nordic sound - is that something you specifically bring forth?
JS - We have no idea how other countries are responding to us. If it was easy, we would over seas and love every second of it.
SOURCE - What do you see as the main differences between DESTROY DESTROY DESTROY and the mass of Viking bands from Scandinavia ?
JS - We love that sound, but we can’t help being boys from the deep south. I think our big difference is the fact that we are surrounded by so many other metal bands that are so heavy and tough, it rubs off on us. Our live show is heavier than we sound on record because we are playing that Nordic style, but touring with a lot of death, thrash and hardcore bands. You really have to step up your live show to compete with all the different styles of heavy music in the states.
SOURCE - What advice would you give a young, ambitious musician who had just formed his first serious band?
JS - Don’t expect handouts. We learned every bit of the industry. All us are completely devoted, so muh that we got BS degrees in recording and graphic design. We write, record, design, manage and book shows. We even print our own merch by hand. You have to been 100% and if someone in your band isn’t, then they will hold you back and you’ll eventually have to get rid of them to keep going, if they don’t quit before you get the chance. Basically, you cant wait around and whine because you cant get any shows. Man up and book it yourself. Same with merch. Instead of bitching because you can’t get someone to make shirts for you, do it yourself.
SOURCE - How's the cooperation with Metal Blade Records ? For how many albums did you sign/how many do you still have to do for them ?
JS - We have a 4 album deal. We just put out our first. MB team is great, they are always in contact with us, and never give us the run around, even if we are one of the smaller bands.
SOURCE - How much trouble do you have with day jobs conflicting with touring and general band responsibilities?
JS - Yeah, we are broke, just like all the other bands on our level!
SOURCE - I was wondering if you had any final comments or news that you would like to pass on to people ?
JS - We plan on touring all through 2007. let us sleep in your home cause it gets cold at night in the van. We promise your moms will love to have us stay in the pool house.
