Nausea

Nausea

SOURCE – For those out of the loop, can you bring everyone up to speed on the past few years of Nausea?

Eric Castro (Drums) – First of all, Nausea(Los Angeles – CA) has been around since late 1988 out of the ash’s of Majesty, we have released a decent amount of rare demos thru the years we just finish doing a small European tour an accomplishment we finally had the opportunity to complete, we have just released a long over due album Condemned to the System via Willowtip Records and Deepsix Vinyls, we are currently working on new material and have a few festivals lined up for this coming year 2014 also along with 2 new members (Lead Guitar/Bassist) that have joined which I can say are a great addition Nausea has seen in may years Leon del Muerte Guitars/Vox, Alex Corredor Bass/Vox, along with original members Oscar Garcia Guitar Vox, and myself Eric Castro Drums.

SOURCE – What do you think will surprise Nausea fans about Condemned To The System?

Eric Castro (Drums) – This album brings out the sound/style we have refused to put aside for many years now it is basically old school grindcore we also finally had the opportunity to record all tracks at a professional level type so it will not disappoint any Grindcore fan at all, songs are all brutal.

SOURCE – How would you characterize the band’s sound now compared to back in the ’90s?

Eric Castro (Drums) – Well I can think back in the 90’s we did recorded some experimental type of material but never forgetting or leaving behind the Grind roots, songs are still solid and simple perhaps maybe more blast beats, and way less Industrial.

SOURCE – How do you find the inspiration after twenty years to keep doing this and to keep it fresh and keep moving forward?

Eric Castro (Drums) – We had our bumps along the road from having an unsteady team of musicians, taking a long seven year intermission in the mid 90’s balancing our time out of our busy schedules but I personally can say at the end it has just been a needy passion for this type of music it has always been a form of therapy it has helped over come regular life issues,
struggles it is the greatest form of releasing inner energy playing pissed off music and this is probably how I can interpret this inspiration that keeps it moving.

SOURCE – Now that you have a new album to play material from, how much of your set list is going to be classic stuff, and how much will be new songs?

Eric Castro (Drums) – We have a good set of mixing some old songs in our set list but our set consist of songs off our new album mainly we also do a few Terrorizer songs that belonged to Nausea in the first place so it’s a good 40 min intense set.

SOURCE – You’ve seen a lot of changes in the music industry over the years. Can anything be done to fix or change its current state?

Eric Castro (Drums) – There has not been many changes to it, it still remains shitty I would say, with greedy labels trying to rip bands off there is for sure probably more opportunities in times now thanks to the ‘NEW TECHNOLOGY’ for more bands to get their release out but its just a matter of taking a risk I would say.

SOURCE – Social media has become essential for bands to connect with fans. How involved are you on a personal level with platforms like Facebook and Twitter?

Eric Castro (Drums) – Compared to what we had to do a decade a go to what we are capable of doing now is completely amazing before we had to do everything via regular mail from interviews, reviews sending tapes recordings out etc… now it is much easier to connect and communicate with our fans worldwide and with people that are able to see and hear material, we have a facebook NAUSEA band page were we try to keep our fans informed with show dates, music, and news.

SOURCE – In Brazil there’s much fans listening your kind of music. What do you know about the Brazil ?

Eric Castro (Drums) – We have a good amount of fans out in Brazil some since the early 90’s also there is a great underground scene that’s very alive with great bands, we hope to put together a small south American tour and to definitely Grind Brazil.

SOURCE – How do you keep yourself busy in that extra time?

Eric Castro (Drums) – Well we work regular jobs we are all condemned to this system aside from Nausea, Leon and Alejandro are also well involved with their own bands Leon with Murder construct and alejandro with a few projects, I am a proud parent of 2 so that there keeps me fully busy Oscar is a parent of 2 so it’s a bit hard to shuffle work, family and the mighty Nausea but its great to say that the 4 of us have managed to work it all around.

SOURCE – Thank you so much for the interview. Before I let you go, would you like to add or say anything?
