SOURCEWEBZINE – How is everything in the Hand To Hand camp after the release of “A Perfect Way To Say Goodbye”?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – Things are going well, Falber. As some of our fans might know, there have been a couple of new additions to the band since “Perfect Way…”. It was a little bump in the road, but Hand to Hand is coming back in full force.
SOURCEWEBZINE – What has the band been doing since the release in 2005 of your latest record “A Perfect Way To Say Goodbye” ? Can we expect a new album soon?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – After a line-up speed bump, H2H has basically been writing for two releases in 2008. We have our Limited EP, Breaking the Surface, coming out on July 8th through Lifeforce Records. It’s going to be our “preamble” the the full length album which is set to be released in October/Novemeber of 2008. We’re hoping the two releases make up for any absence in the past couple of years.
SOURCEWEBZINE – How has your sound progressed from “A Perfect Way To Say Goodbye”?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – I say it has matured greatly, yet it has kept that Hand to Hand sound as well. You can tell the influences that the new members have brought to the table, but it still comes together in that Hand to Hand style. Basically, if you like Seal, Peter Frampton and Yoko Ono… you’ll REALLY love us! *wink*
SOURCEWEBZINE – With the massive success of your first album, are your expectations really high for “A Perfect Way To Say Goodbye” ?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – For a band, it’s always high hopes for the success of any release really. We just hope we get as great of a response as we’re thinking we will.
SOURCEWEBZINE – A little bit about internet. What’s your opinion about the big web communities such as Facebook, MySpace etc.? Do you consider them as a good or a bad thing?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – I feel both have changed the Internet in such a profound way that caught many people by surprise. As far as for music, I feel we are now in an evolutionary process for the industry that will make or break a lot of labels and/or bands. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next 5 years digital media is the new form of music.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Does it ever become hard to balance a “regular” life along with you life on the road with the band? In what ways is each one affected?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – Oh, most definitely! It basically boils down to letting close friends, family, and even girlfriends know that the music is #1 to us and it makes things a little easier to handle. Unfortunately, it means missing birthdays and anniversaries sometimes.
SOURCEWEBZINE – The metalcore scene from Florida is very rich in bands and is growing rapidly all the time. Does all musicians know each other well or is it a lot of hard feelings and jealousy going on ?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – There are definitely no hard feelings or jealousy that we know of. We’re a bunch of easy going, mellow dudes. Most of the musicians here in Orlando know each other well since we’ve most likely been in bands prior to the ones now. It’s a close niche and we’re always rooting for each other.
SOURCEWEBZINE – A little bit about your music taste. What kind of stuff are you currently listening to?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – Personally, I’ve been getting back to my roots of music and listening to new bands as well… anywhere from Pennywise and Thrice to Radiohead, Foo Fighters and even Dredg.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Are there any up and coming bands around the area that have caught your attention?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – Crisis in Hollywood!!! Good friends of ours who I would watch out for in the next year or so. Also, from Jersey , Desoto Jones. Probably one of the best new bands who have been recently signed.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Thank you really much for the interview. Anything you wanna say to your Brazilian fans as a closure?
Arturo Matamoros (G/V) – You guys produce amazing Victoria’s Secret models! Keep them coming, haha!
