In MourningSOURCEWEBZINE - First off would like to congratulate you on your new album ‘Shrouded Divine’. I am pretty sure most of our readers do not know your background, so could you start by telling us a bit about you and your musical background?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - We started as a band in 2000, since then we’ve released five demos evolving from a gothic sound on the debut to a more progressive sound.

On our first demo we had a keyboardist and a female vocalist, but we’ve been through several changes in line-up and sound and along the way we got rid of both female voice and keyboards, adding a third guitarist. Now we have got a steady crew and feel really strong about where our music is going.

SOURCEWEBZINE - How has the response been on ‘Shrouded Divine’ and what kind of expectations do you have for it?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - The response this far, has been very overwhelming. Of course it varies, ups and downs, but mainly good. We’re really satisfied ourselves with how the album turned out and with the reactions from people.

SOURCEWEBZINE - Was the album completely written before entering the studio?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - Yes, pretty much everything was written and complete before we entered studio, except for some vocals. Although when in studio some details here and there got changed and so.

SOURCEWEBZINE - What’s the situation for your type of music where you live right now?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - It takes kind of hard work to get recognision around here with the type of music that we’re playing. Especially to get out and play gigs, there are not very much venues to play at. And the ones that have live music often tend to go for cover bands and more easy-listening stuff. We have started to get more gig-offers from outside of Sweden and we are trying to do as many of them as possible.

SOURCEWEBZINE - How do you feel about the co-operation with your label Aftermath Music?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - We feel really satisfied with signing to Aftermath Music, Haavard is really helpful and we’ve got good contact. When we had completed the recording of “Shrouded Divine” we actually got in touch with a few other lables and was about ready to release the album through another label, when we got in contact with Aftermath Music through Myspace and decided to release it through them.

SOURCEWEBZINE - Does the band have a big fanbase and where in the world are you the most popular do you think?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - The fan base so far is not the biggest, we have a pretty small but strong local fanbase. Outside of Sweden it has started to grow pretty fast now, much thanks to Myspace and Trig, we’ve gotten a lot of feedback from all over the world. We feel really eager to get out on the road now, to show the world we exist.

SOURCEWEBZINE - What are you doing besides In Mourning, job wise as well as hobbies?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - We all work full time at different places, Pierre works as a secretary at hospital, Tim as a truckdriver, Tobias & Björn works in a factory and Crille delivers newspapers. We all work on quite different schedules so making up rehearsal times and booking shows requires planning. And our main hobby would be music then, that’d go for all of us.

SOURCEWEBZINE - What has signing with Aftermath Music meant for your career?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - Well they helped us put out our record so that was one really big step for us, as it has been a goal for quite some time for the band. And so far we’ve gotten really great help with the promotion for ”Shrouded Divine” so it has helped us a lot.

SOURCEWEBZINE - What ”image” do you have of Brazil?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - Sepultura and Football! …although the football-interest in the band isn’t the greatest, aside from Pierre who’s really into that.

SOURCEWEBZINE - Thanks for the interview. Anything you want to say to your fans before we wrap things up?
Tobias Netzell (V/G) - Go get “Shrouded Divine”, check out our Myspace and site for some news every now and then….and set us up some shows in Brazil too!
