GOD DETHRONED

SOURCEWEBZINE – First off before going any deeper I would like to know that how is it going for you and God Dethroned at the moment?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – Hi there. Things are going well thank you. Loads of interviews at the moment, but also time for yours of course.
SOURCEWEBZINE – So you did not have a specific goal in mind when you started to write material for new album “Passiondale”?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – As a matter of fact i did have a goal in mind. I wanted to write a concept album about World War One. It’s a very unknown war to many people, but i got fascinated by it and decide to write an album about it.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Who has done the artwork? And how important do you feel it is to have a great cover?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – The artwork was done by a guy called Karl-Heinz Schuster. He’s from Germany and he has worked for us before in the past. He mainly did inner sleeves and photo’s for us, but this time i wanted him to everything. Of course it’s very important to have a good cover and this cover also fits to the concept very well.
SOURCEWEBZINE – You have one girl in the band, Susan. How is she getting along with all you guys? Like what do you think about having a girl in the band, and her female role?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – We knew Susan already for many years. She’s a really fanatic metalhead and also very professional. The fact that she’s a girl didn’t matter to us. We just wanted a good guitar player again. I must admit that having a girl in our band brings a lot of extra attention, but we’ve got nothing against that, ha ha.
SOURCEWEBZINE – How much input has Susan had on the song-writing ?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – Nothing at all, because she joined the band after the recordings.
SOURCEWEBZINE – How was God Dethroned in the past and now, are you searching for new kind of streams?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – No, we actually went back to our roots. The return of Roel behind the drumkit gave us back our old sound. He also played on the Grand Grimoire and Bloody Blasphemy albums and the new album goes back to that sound.
SOURCEWEBZINE – So far you had some very successful albums and the new will also be a success. But how far your ambition goes, where do you see God Dethroned in the future ?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – Good question. We just want to go on as long as we enjoy it. We enjoy it so much that we want to go on as long as possible. We will tour in South America in September and it’s our first time, so for us that’s a really great thing !
SOURCEWEBZINE – Can you write us something more about living in Holland and how is the scene here?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – Living in Holland is cold and wet. For the rest it’s an overcrowded and boring country. There’s many bands and the scene is quite big. But the country is small so you have to play other countries a lot, but that’s good. It’s always good to go to other counries to play, because the people are different everywhere.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Do you take a personal interest in your MySpace page|site and what do you think of this new invention?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – Well, i don’t do the God Dethroned Myspace page. Our bassplayer does that, but it’s a good thing to get a lot of exposure. People can listen to your music and find all the necessary info on just one page.
SOURCEWEBZINE – What is your opinion, as a musician, regarding internet?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – Internet is good when it comes down to publicity. News spreads fast and it’s easy to acces for a lot of people. The downside of course is the downloading which is not good for the industry.
SOURCEWEBZINE – What ‘image’ do you have of Brazilian music?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – Well, i know some Brazilian bands of course. The people seem really fanatic overthere, so i’m really curious what it will be like when we come over to play this year.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Are there any plans for future tours in Brazil and South America ?
Henri Sattler (V/G) – Yes in September of this year. Just check out our Myspace page, because you can find all the dates on there.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my question.
Henri Sattler (V/G) – Thanx for the interview and see you in September !
