ICON IN ME

Icon In MeSOURCEWEBZINE – “Human Museum” is your first for Massacre Records. Any specific hopes for it?
D.Frans (G) – Actually it’s the first time in my musical carieer that the album I work with comes up to this serious label like Massacre Records. I hope so much that this participation could launch our band up to new hights which I only dreamed about.

SOURCEWEBZINE – I like how the album is both tech thrash and free-flowing. You don’t get too caught up in being technical that the songwriting suffers.
D.Frans (G) – Yes bro. Just to the point. Thanks for good words. I like it. Hehe !

SOURCEWEBZINE – How have the press and fan reactions been to “Human Museum” so far?
D.Frans (G) – The reactions was mainly positive. I think that we have all chances to earn the cult status in just no time. We didn’t expect this fan reaction ourselves. The press is a little more reserved but also quite favorable.

SOURCEWEBZINE – Where are you all from? How long have you known each other?
D.Frans (G) – 3 members of ICON IN ME are from Moscow and we have known each other for quite a long time and played before in different bands. We met Tony (Voc) who lives in Sweden and Morten (dr) from Denmark just before the record. They’re amazing guys and I’m sure had we lived in one city we would be close friends.

SOURCEWEBZINE – Living in Russia, which has a very large metal scene, which bands out here do you think will make an impression in heavy metal?
D.Frans (G) – Oh. Very difficult questions. I think that Russian metal stage is too weak for impressing the world of heavy metal. Maybe only us. Ha ha. Yes only ICON IN ME definitely.

SOURCEWEBZINE – Do you have a favorite movement on the album? I mean it’s full of all these moments of brilliance. There must be one where you grin a bit when you hear it.
D.Frans (G) – It’s not very easy for me now to single out one definite moment. I have been listening to these songs for 1,5 years and I love them all. Really. Believe me. It really is an achievement for a simple Russian guy to release an album like this. I’m just proud of every song, no exception.

SOURCEWEBZINE – How do you perceive the advances of technology and the internet changing the music industry in the future? Will the CD as a product become a fanatic’s item like the LP is nowadays? Will record labels become redundant?
D.Frans (G) – It’s a complicated question and we can discuss it for long. But in short I can say that the music industry will have to change or crash.

SOURCEWEBZINE – Do you see the whole downloading/file-sharing issue as a problem or a benefit?
D.Frans (G) – For a young band like us it’s rather a benefit than a problem. But on the other hand we’re underpaid for the record sales. And we might invest this money into new album recording. There is no one opinion on this point.

SOURCEWEBZINE – What would you say are some of the biggest misconceptions about Icon In Me ?
D.Frans (G) – We’re a new band and we haven’t been much talked about so far. Maybe in future we are going to come across some funny misconceptions about us.

SOURCEWEBZINE – What’s your favorite hobby away from music?
D.Frans (G) – Only music! This is my favorite hobby for all my life.

SOURCEWEBZINE – Do you have any plans of a South America tour?
D.Frans (G) – Oh Yeah! It would be great! I love travelling and would enjoy going to the South America with our shows. But unfortunately it depends on our promoters. So we’re waiting for your invitations.

SOURCEWEBZINE – Anything else you have on your mind or just want to get off your chest? Anything fans should know?
D.Frans (G) – We want to tell our fans all we do is for you. Without your support we’re nothing. Thanks for your existing. Stay metal!
