SOURCEWEBZINE – How does this album “Carnage Euphoria” differ from past releases musically ?
Peter Ostlund (G) – I hope it differs in that way that the songs are better written and more thought through.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Was the recording process this time around a good experience? Briefly, can you discuss the creative process in making this album?
Peter Ostlund (G) – Haha as always the recording session was a bit stressed to say the least as we are not a big budget band and have a limited amount of time when it comes to recording an album. I guess the creative process can be described as this: We try to get the songs ready in time and then we go in and hammer them out in the studio.
SOURCEWEBZINE – What do you think your fans are going to love most about your new album?
Peter Ostlund (G) – That it’s full with brutal honest music. We know who we are and what we do best.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Tell me a bit about the bonus DVD – “Dead & Drunk For 20 Years”.
Peter Ostlund (G) – It’s a collection of old and newer live material of the band and it´s mixed up with some drunk cracy behaviour. No top-notch production, so it’s more in a Cliff em’all style, wich we think is quite cool.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Do you see the whole downloading/file-sharing issue as a problem or a benefit?
Peter Ostlund (G) – I guess it’s both. It gets easier for people to discover new music but it’s gets harder for bands to make ends meet finacially. I mean, why should record companies spend a lot of money so bands can make the best record they can when they don’t even break even because people think it´s ok to download for free. It’s like you wouldn’t steal from a jewlerystore since you know it´s hard and you will most like get caught, but since someone uploaded a promo on the internet and the risk of getting caught is minimal it´s all of the sudden ok to steal, beacuse that´s what it basically is when you narrow it down. It’s like it’s all of the sudden a human right to not pay for music and movies, well then we might as well start letting people in for free at concerts and most mid-sized bands will probably never release an album again.
And if someone starts to feed me crap like that record companys have to roll with the times and stuff I might just take an axe to their head since there’s legal ways to pay for music on the internet but a lot of people don’t do that either. It’s just a case of I can steal and I will most certainly get away with it. But all of the above is just my own humble opinion haha.
SOURCEWEBZINE – What do you think are some of the biggest problems that metal is facing?
Peter Ostlund (G) – Apart from downloading I don’t really know.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Was it difficult at all getting recognition outside of Sweden?
Peter Ostlund (G) – Well since I haven’t been in the band since the begining is a hard question for me to answer. I guess nowadays quite a few now who we are.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Did you ever think you’d be playing music for a living?
Peter Ostlund (G) – I have always hoped but I actually don’t play music for a living. I have a day job as an electrician.
SOURCEWEBZINE – If you weren’t playing music right now, what do you think you would be doing?
Peter Ostlund (G) – Working as an electrician.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Vomitory has earned an immense amount of respect over the last few years, what are your thoughts and feelings towards that?
Peter Ostlund (G) – That it seems that we might be doing something right. I guess it proves that real honest music have a chance in this world, wether you like our music or not, and not only overproduced soulless corporate crap that people are being forcefed with daily through commercial media.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Do you have any plans of a South America tour?
Peter Ostlund (G) – We would love to tour South America and it might happend if we get a reasonalble offer.
SOURCEWEBZINE – Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Peter Ostlund (G) – Thanks for letting me waste your time and check out our music. Cheers!
