SOURCE – What was the writing and recording process like for The Post-Apocalyptic Servant? When did you start on the record and when did you complete it?
Adrie Kloosterwaard (Vocals) – The writing process was not different this time… we always work the same way with Sinister. When we start creating new stuff everything starts by Bastiaan, he is the man how is making the new songs in his small home studio. When a track is ready he will send this around to every member for practise this at home before we enter the practice room. From here we start working as a crew to make the song better and better. The song is ready when all members are pleased with it.
We had 3 weeks for recording The Post-Apocalyptic Servant and that is more than enough for us. This crew that we have no is always entering the studio well prepard and in the past that was different. The recording was going really well so well that we finished everything much faster than expected, only great so than we had more time for the end mix and I think you can hear this because the end result sounds really massive.
SOURCE – How has the album The Post-Apocalyptic Servant been received in your homeland where no doubt some similar bands are competing for attention?
Adrie Kloosterwaard (Vocals) – I have to say really good and of course we are really pleased with this. We are competing with nobody (hope this is clear) Sinister is doing his own thing and we try to do this the best way we can.
SOURCE – To produce the album you worked again with the very talented Jörg Uken. How did Jörg Uken come to be involved in producing this record?
Adrie Kloosterwaard (Vocals) – We are already working for many many years with Jorg and this time it was not different. And also in the future we will go back to him for sure. The reason why we are with Jorg is because he is doing a great job for Sinister.
SOURCE – What do you consider to be the biggest accomplishment for you and Sinister, not necessarily sales wise?
Adrie Kloosterwaard (Vocals) – That we can make people happy all over the globe with our music. That we can travel all over the globe to do shows and meet our fans after the shows and have a beer with them. That we are lucky that we still can go to a good studio to record our music… what can we ask more.. this is the only reason why you make death metal for no other reasons. When people say to us how important Sinister is for them than we only can be proud.
SOURCE – How was the video shoot for The Post-Apocalyptic Servant?
Adrie Kloosterwaard (Vocals) – Absolute cool of course and it turnt out great. We are so pleased with it because we did everything our selves, or Atleast Mathijs our bass player did the video for the band. I can say that we are really lucky with this because this is also the day job from Mathijs so he knows what he is doing. One other thng was super cool that we did the complete video for nothing thanks to his boss. We had one day to shoot all shots we needed but Mathijs was still working on it for some weeks to complete the video and he did a killer job.
SOURCE – Does your band make money by touring and selling merchandise or by selling CDs?
Adrie Kloosterwaard (Vocals) – Yes of course… but when you think that we are living from the band you are wrong. We all have (fucking) day jobs to feed our family’s and pay our bills hahaha!
SOURCE – What do you think the future will be for the music industry?
Adrie Kloosterwaard (Vocals) – Have no idea man and I am also not thinking about this at all you never know what will happen. I am only focus on the future with Sinister that is important for me. I hope to go on with the band for long as possible and that we still can do really cool things in the near future. The first new track for the next record is already finished… will get the name Syncretism by the way.
SOURCE – How do you relate to/use the new media by that I mean Internet and e.g. Facebook, MySpace and YouTube? Has it, for instance, brought you in closer contact with your fans?
Adrie Kloosterwaard (Vocals) – That you are more close with your fans is true and that is really really cool I like that. But it has also his bad sides I think… but will not say to much about this.
SOURCE – In Brazil there is much fans listening your kind of music. What do you know about the Brazil?
Adrie Kloosterwaard (Vocals) – I was with Sinister now for 3 times I think in Brazil and everytime it was absolute amazing, and we can’t wait to come back soon as possible to play the songs from our new record for the diehard fans. Oh yes I know one other thing that Holland beat you with football hahahaha sorry !
