Transport League

SOURCE – For those youngsters unfamiliar with all things Transport League, describe the band’s lyrical and musical approach.

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – Formed in Gothenburg in 1994 by me Tony J.J ( then singer in B-thong), Lars Häglund on drums (bass in B-thong) and Johan Reivén on Bass. We inked a deal with Mascot Records in late 1994, and we released the debut album Stallion Showcase in 1995. The second album Superevil was released in 1997, we then toured Europe alot and played some major festivals in Sweden, but also the great Dynamo Open Air in 1998. The third album Satanic Panic ( Pavement Records) was released in 2000, we some some great airplay in the USA and did a 2 week tour over there and played even more in Europe.

SOURCE – After getting back together, at what point did you decide you wanted to write new material Boogie From Hell?

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – We just felt the vibe was right, and we wanted to go back to our roots and dig up some great bones, just as dogs do.

SOURCE – What are the pros and cons of producing the album yourselves?

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – Well, if you mean Boogie from Hell we did not really do that ourselves, Roberto Laghi ( In Flames, Hardcore Superstar, Mustasch) did that, but we co-produced. It is always good to have someone with you, coz sometimes you don’t see the forest because of all the trees.

SOURCE – You’ve been in the music industry for a while. Is there anything that can be done to fix its current state?

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – Nope, the wheels are turning, and pretty happy with the current situation.

SOURCE – Now that you have a new album to play material from, how much of your set list is going to be classic stuff, and how much will be new songs?

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – Approx 50/50.

SOURCE – You released a lyric video for Swing Satanical Swing. What’s your take on the whole lyric video phenomenon?

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – We just wanted to do something simple and cheap, and outcome became pretty cool. Coz we don’t have any label supporting us, and we paid most of it ourselves, we do have a studio & producer who invested thru studio time and mix in this project, which we are happy for. Otherwise we are on our own.

SOURCE – Have you or are there plans to shoot a video for that song or any others on the album?

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – Let’s see, perhaps, more info soon.

SOURCE – Are you currently working on any other projects?

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – Me !?, yes, I still have Massive Audio Nerve (M.A.N), we released a new CD thru Dead End Exit Records on July 12th, check it out thru spotify/iTunes or cdon.com, and I am also the singer in Death Destruction, more info about that soon as well.

SOURCE – What have been the high and low points for you in your time in the band?

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – Yes, of course, High= Dynamo Open Air with B-Thong in 1994 and Dynamo Opean Air with TL in 1998. Low= When we had hard times with TL in 2001, and had major member changes.

SOURCE – What are your hobbies and interests outside music?

Tony Jelencovich (Vocals, Guitar) – Well !, music is my life, I still have my day job ( SV Göteborg www.svmusicsquad.se), which is helping bands with rehearsal spaces and funding their musical interest with governmental money, and I run Belsepub ( www.facebook.com/belsepub) since 1998, and all my bands, but !, I love cars ( I have three !) and engines, so, I have a keen on Honda Ruckuses since a month !
