SOURCE – What should the fans expect of this new album Dead End Diaries and how would you describe it to the fans that have not listened to it yet?

Aleksi Paasonen (Vocals) – Our debut album “Dead End Diaries” has a lot of diversity as the songs share the feelings from everything between the ups and downs of life . We want to create music by using the elements that it needs to express the specific feeling or atmosphere as strong as possible. With this album we’re representing our take of how the best possible music should sound in 2020. Basically the music in “Dead End Diaries” could be described as metalcore/post-metalcore.

SOURCE – What are some of the goals you set for yourselves with this
album?

Antti Halonen (Drums) – Our main goal is to make progress all the time and to reach more people with our music. We’re really hoping that this album opens up more doors for us and gets us to bigger events where we could find the potential people who might like our music.

SOURCE – Are you perhaps preparing some new video for the promotion of Dead End Diaries, can you tell us something about it?

Aleksi Paasonen (Vocals) – We’ve released three music videos and one lyric video already but maybe there’s something still coming up. We’ll see…

SOURCE – Have you experienced any differences in how the foreign press treats you and the band compared to how native press and media treats and writes about you?

Antti Halonen (Drums) – Funny, but it seems like foreign press is more interested in us than our native press. Don’t know why exactly. We have done more interviews to foreign media than to Finnish but of course we have to remember that Finland is just one country, and quite a small one! It also seems like the foreign media is very interested and even surprised about the fact that we’re coming from Finland.

SOURCE – What are your thoughts on the Finland music community – as it seems to have developed its own distinct flavor and characteristics, where a multitude of musicians and bands have been able to succeed internationally as a result?

Antti Halonen (Drums) – In Finland there’s a huge amount of really talented people working with music, so to step in from this group demands really an attitude of hard working.

Most of the metal bands in Finland have indeed common flavor in their music which appears to me as melancholy. Melancholy can be also found in our music and I think it might be a thing that comes in even though we won’t aim for it.

SOURCE – What financial impact has COVID-19 had on you and your band? Have you had to cancel or postpone any tours or festival appearances or postpone an album release because of COVID-19 and how will that affect you in the long term?

Antti Halonen (Drums) – Financially the only impact so far might be that We’ve made some savings in travel expenses! Luckily, we didn’t have many shows to postpone or cancel. Have to say that I’m pretty worried about what the future brings now when all the bigger bands are re-scheduling their tours and festivals are keeping this year’s bands the same also in 2021. So we’ll see if there’s space next year also for smaller bands or band’s that are more topical at the time.

SOURCE – If a metal fan comes to visit Mikkeli – Finland, what would they see and do?

Antti Halonen (Drums) – Well, Mikkeli is a pretty small city so there might not be so much special to see. Mikkeli owns a pretty big part in Finland’s war history so all amusements are about war. Of course, we have such a beautiful nature and views that surround us. I think overall metal fans are down to earth people, so they would like to just enjoy the calmness and silence of what we have here.

SOURCE – Anything else you’d like to mention or promote?

Aleksi Paasonen (Vocals) – Support also smaller bands and keep on discovering new music that the world has to offer. Stream our music, save it, share it, love it or hate it!

Antti Halonen (Drums) – That’s probably the most important thing that people can do for the bands to keep this music industry alive. We are also opening our own website balancebreach.com where people can buy our merchandise. Hope you can find joy in our music!
