SOURCE – Errors is the second studio album for the band. How did the songwriting and recording sessions go for this set of material – and where do you see this record slotting in the overall history/discography for the group?

Crow Lotus (Vocals) – I’m very proud of how this album turned out. I loved In Transmission as well, but I feel more confident as a songwriter now and I believe Errors really reflects that growth. We’ve all undergone some pretty big changes in our lives and it undoubtedly affects the way we all write and perform.

SOURCE – What are your goals and aspirations for the future of Errors?

Crow Lotus (Vocals) – My goal for this album is to convince people that it is okay to feel angry and it is okay to stop blaming yourself for everything. When we become more honest with ourselves about our feelings, it is easier to begin to heal from the things that hurt us.

SOURCE – I wanted to talk specifically about the video for Human Commodity. Could you go into how the concept for the video came to be in relation to the song?

Crow Lotus (Vocals) – We recorded the video at the storage unit we practice at. I think we just wanted to include a little glimpse into our lives and give viewers something authentic. I also relish any opportunity to be able to get dolled up.

SOURCE – With making a living at music seemingly becoming more and more difficult, what steps do you believe should be taken to make things better financially for musicians?

Crow Lotus (Vocals) – I think the unfortunate reality is that there is going to be a lot of risk-taking involved when you attempt to become monetarily successful as a musician. It definitely helps to have a flexible work schedule that allows you to take time off to tour and write, but there are times when we do have to struggle a bit with living below the means we’ve generally been accustomed to.

SOURCE – How important do you believe instant communication technology and social media platforms have been to the growth of your fanbase on a global scale? Do you enjoy the fan interaction through these mediums beyond building the brand of the band through live shows/touring?

Crow Lotus (Vocals) – I think there are upsides and downsides to being a musician in the world of modern communication. Although we have the benefit of being able to post our content wherever and whenever we want to, we also face the struggle of getting lost amongst thousands of other bands and musicians who also want to be heard. I do appreciate the ability to talk to people all over the world about our music… There is something very surreal about having fans across the globe.

SOURCE – Several artists have recently been talking about issues with streaming services and losing money, while others have been defending it. What are your thoughts on this evolution of the music industry?

Crow Lotus (Vocals) – Although they may not be the best source of revenue, streaming services play a big role in helping bands (at least at our level) be discovered via playlists or through recommendations. I’m very grateful to streaming services not only for helping us to be discovered by a larger audience, but also for helping me to discover many of the bands I listen to today.

SOURCE – When you think about the concept of success, what does that word mean to you as far as being a musician – and has that definition changed from your initial years getting into the business versus today?

Crow Lotus (Vocals) – I think that, for most people, the idea of success always has a monetary implication. For me, success is being able to be heard by my target audience, so-to-speak. Whether that’s people who share some of the same feelings I do or people who didn’t know they needed CAPRA in their lives, we all want to be heard by the people who need to hear us the most.

SOURCE – This year is reaching its end, what are your plans for next year?

Crow Lotus (Vocals) – Our plans are to stay busy. We want to keep touring, keep writing, and keep talking to the people who want us to succeed. Everything else falls into place.
