Nervosa

SOURCE – Tell us about the current lineup and introduce yourselves to the readers?

Diva (Vocals) – Nervosa is an all female Thrash Metal band created in 2010, they released 3 albums and they have been touring around the world since the very beginning of their career. The band announce a new line up last May formed by the brazilian guitar player and founder member Prika Amaral, the italian bass player Mia Wallace (Abbath, Triumph Of Death), the greek drummer Eleni Nota (Mask Of Prospero) and myself from Spain as the vocalist (Bloodhunter). Next January the 22nd we are going to release our fourth album via Napalm Records called “Perpetual Chaos”.

SOURCE – What do you hope people take away from Perpetual Chaos?

Diva (Vocals) – This is a very special album for us because it’s the first one since the announcement of the new line-up so this is like a fresh start but with the old essence of the band mixed with some new influences from the new member’s backgrounds. It offers a wider perspective so we think that there are going to be a lot of new fans!

SOURCE – Were there any specific challenges or songs that took more of an evolution from the initial demo stage to the final competition?

Diva (Vocals) – We had to write this album in 3 months and each one of us from home due to the covid situation. So we could only exchange some ideas and share some files until we met in the studio, where we spent one month for the recording sessions with the helping hand of our producer Martin Furia that did an amazing job with the final arrangements and some lyrics.

SOURCE – The recording occurred during COVID-19’s onset, did any of those feelings carry over into the music?

Diva (Vocals) – Sure, I think it was a very big source of inspiration for everybody but this album deals with chaos in general, that chaos created by humanity along the centuries that includes other topics such as wars, animal abuse, capitalism, drug abuse… There is a lot about this but also some positive vibes to send to all those that are struggling in these difficult times.

SOURCE – With a bigger push this time around, do you feel that you get a lot of people who come into the band expecting a certain sound, and are surprised by the diversity/range?

Diva (Vocals) – I think that even ourselves were surprised by the final result haha It was an amazing journey to get to this point and we were very excited about the process itself but we didn’t want to take nothing for granted. We enjoyed every single minute together and how we finally found out the way to have that equilibrium between all our influences.

SOURCE – How have you been personally handling the extended downtime away from touring due to the global pandemic – and do you believe the impact on the music industry will be long-lasting because of its impact?

Diva (Vocals) – This is devastating for everybody but specially for us that were supposed to be presenting a new line up. For sure it is going to be difficult to be back on the road for everybody but I Think that we are all so excited about this idea that we are going to be crazy about this: people are trying to help buying some merch or tickets for live streaming to support their favorite artists and that’s much appreciated. We all need to think about new strategies for the future until we can go back to normal.

SOURCE – How would you describe your relationship with Napalm Records? Do you feel their staff understand what you want to accomplish with Nervosa and provide guidance and insight without really compromising your musical vision?

Diva (Vocals) – Working with Napalm Records is a dream come true. They are very supportive and caring about their bands and having the chance of keep on working with them for this new album has been an amazing way to encourage ourselves to try our best.

SOURCE – Is there anything you have been keeping busy with lately, and do you have any plans for 2021 outside of the album release?

Diva (Vocals) – WE’ve been very busy with the promotion of this new album and we are very thankful for that because that means that people both fans and press are very excited about this new album. We have many dates booked for the following months but it depends on the global situation so we are going to release the third and the fourth part ofthe documentary of the recording sessions, one more videoclip and more playthroughs besides another material so stay tuned!
