Sinister

SOURCE – On May 29th, 2020 you will release your new album titled Deformation of the Holy Realm. Can you tell us a bit more about it?

Aad Kloosterwaard (Drums) – First off all hello Adrie here. Yes correct the record will come out soon.Like always it will be a real Sinister record, fast brutal and very catchy the way it have to be.Also a big difference in the process is that all music is created by Ghislain our Bass player this time, because off this reason it will be a bit different sounding, but like a said before still very Sinister. We are not a band who puts 50 riffs in a songs to sound impressive as possible. No we make riffs that serves the songs in the right way. For us is creating a good song still the most importand. We put choir in the songs to make it more dark and evil sounding and it turnt out killer we think. Its clear that we can not make everybody happy all the time, but when we are happy then out mission is succeed.

SOURCE – How long did the whole writing and recording process of the album take?

Aad Kloosterwaard (Drums) – Much longer than normale but this had his reasons. For sure not the best things happend in the privit lifes from some members, but I don’t feel the need to bring this out in the open. Also we had problems with our old guistar player so that Ghislain was on his own creating music for Sinister and that is ofcourse a hell of a job. Was great that michal stept in to speed up the process so we where able to hit the studio.

SOURCE – Some bands claim that marketing is just as important for a band as the music itself. What do you think about that?

Aad Kloosterwaard (Drums) – Lets say that marketing became super importand so at this point I agree with them. Only I think that music always have to come on the first place and than marketing. Its true that some bands get so much exposure from labels and magazines even when the band suck big time, than we are the point that marketing is more important than the music and that is fucking wrong.

SOURCE – In a time where streaming and digital consumption of music is more the norm than owning physical releases, do you believe that great artwork is still crucially important for albums?

Aad Kloosterwaard (Drums) – Yes for me it is and all in Sinister, but that is maybe we are thinking in the old school way. First off all you make the record for your self so you whant that it looks great as possible. I also think that a great cover is a eye catcher for people so they get the need to check it out. And yes its such a shame that music became a throw away thing. With younger fans they listen to it on there computer or phone and when they have enough from it they click on the delete button. Older fans still like to checkout the cover and booklet with pictures in it, gives them a great feeling the same like me.

SOURCE – What are your thoughts on the The Netherlands music community – as it seems to have developed its own distinct flavor and characteristics, where a multitude of musicians and bands have been able to succeed internationally as a result?

Aad Kloosterwaard (Drums) – The scene is good I think and we have some killer bands around who are International important. How this happened I have no idea, maybe because we are serious in what we are doing and trying to make the best out off it.

SOURCE – You already played all over the world and did awesome things with Sinister. Is there something you would like to achieve?

Aad Kloosterwaard (Drums) – Agree with did a lot off amazing stuff and I am super thankfull for that. Only ther eis always something to desire, like playing in countrys we where never before or playing on festivals we never did. And the most important thing is to keep fun in what we are doing and that we hope that stuff we still desire cross our path one day.

SOURCE – How do you see the next twelve months for Sinister as far as promotion of the new record, videos, live shows, touring etc?

Aad Kloosterwaard (Drums) – Like we always do, try to play much as possible around the globe and meet our fans.Next to that we start writing for the next record already and try to make it again a real dark Sinister piece. We have already a working title but will not tell it hahaha.
