The Troops Of Doom

Bands You Need to Know Now – October 2020

THE TROOPS OF DOOM

New Brazilian Metal band led by the original Sepultura guitar player Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz (The Mist), author and co-author of the classic albums “Bestial Devastation” and “Morbid Visions”. The band counts with Alex Kafer (Enterro, Explicit Hate, Ex-Necromancer) on bass and vocals, the drummer Alexandre Oliveira (Southern Blacklist, Raising Conviction) and the guitar player Marcelo Vasco (Patria, Mysteriis). “The Rise of Heresy” brings back to the surface the essence of the 80’s Death Metal, exploring a more primitive sound, taking the listener to that era, almost in a nostalgic way. The EP features four original songs and two cover versions of SEPULTURA classics: “Bestial Devastation” and “Troops of Doom”. The material was mastered by Øystein G. Brun (BORKNAGAR) at Crosound Studio (Norway).

SOARA

Soara is a two-man project, currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, originally from Mumbai & Chennai, India. Combining ethereal soundscapes with dense drumming and soulful Carnatic vocals, the music seeks to address deep systemic issues prevalent in Eastern cultures and portray the resilience, not often eschewed by the oppressed.

EMPRESS

This three-headed beast from Vancouver, B.C. was born after guitarist/vocalist Peter Sacco (SEER) and drummer Chris Doyle attended a show headlined by doom mavens ELDER. Inspired by the massive wall of sound and psychedelia they encountered on that fateful night, the pair enlisted bassist Brenden Gunn (CRATERS) and set out to create their own brand of stoner/sludge metal.

INGRINA

Post-metal/hardcore thunderstorm INGRINA. The French six-piece’s sophomore album “Siste Lys” depicts the reappearance of the jailers, the walls and the bodies, from the turbulent swampy life forms, heckled by the waters. The vital movement is gradually fading away, as the light behind the walls disappears. Lives now lodge themselves in the ether of consciousness without being able to take on neither body nor matter. The intensity of the internal madness is equaled only by the absolute paralysis of the physical movement outside.
