Blood Red Throne

Blood Red Throne

SOURCE – How do you feel that Fit To Kill compares to your previous works?

Daniel Olaisen (Guitars) – It’s even more back to the roots. Old-school, classic death metal. The production is dirty, but massive. Very powerful and great songs!

SOURCE – Do you think that there’s less stress/pressure to release material in a scheduled manner nowadays?

Daniel Olaisen (Guitars) – We never cared about that. We’re coming from black metal country no.1 and we still play our death metal for 21 years now, haha. Blood Red Throne will never change style. Mark my words!

SOURCE – How do you assess the career of Blood Red Throne at this point in time? What steps are next do you believe in moving up the ladder so to speak in terms of developing an even stronger following?

Daniel Olaisen (Guitars) – Fans claim us to be one of the most underrated death metal bands in the world. I agree. If there was justice in the world, we would have been in top league, playing all the big festivals. But there will never be justice in this rotten world. We won’t stop however. We get to play some cool shows as well and meet our great fans, so fuck the rest.

SOURCE – Do you feel that you’ve gotten more focused as you’ve gotten older?

Daniel Olaisen (Guitars) – Indeed. Focused on songwriting. Early days, we just threw in a bunch of riffs, while now I’m more interested in arranging the songs and have a nice flow. Maybe a highlight in the middle of the song. It’s still about the riffs, but it’s very important to put them together in a smooth way.

SOURCE – If you had the chance to really dig deep and change certain aspects of the music industry (especially heavy metal), what would you like to change and why for the benefit of this entertainment sector?

Daniel Olaisen (Guitars) – What can I say. There’s definitely way too many bands. Metal is suddenly for everybody. It’s a jungle out there. Of course we want metal to be big, but how many truly has a passion for this music? I dunno. Maybe I’m wrong, but there’s really a lot of crappy music out there. And some real good shit of course. I guess it’s all about the money at the end of the day in the metal industry as well. If I could change ONE thing though, remove all arrogant and non-responding people for sure.

SOURCE – What would you consider three of the most important albums that shaped your outlook either as a musician or from a songwriting/playing perspective? And what’s the best concert memories you’ve had, purely from a fan/attendee perspective?

Daniel Olaisen (Guitars) – My fave guitarist is Joe atriani and I’m heavily inspired by his beautiful playing. Death is my all time fave band and Chuck Schuldiner was the ultimate death metal riffer. Last, but not least I would say Dimebag and Pantera. The world’s most groovy band to ever exist. I like all albums by all these three maestros. Believe it or not, but last summer I witnessed one of the fuckin’ coolest shows ever dude; Clawfinger. That was so insanely groovy and powerful. Then of course, how can I forget the very first show I ever went to; Megadeth/Pantera in Magic!

SOURCE – What types of activities, hobbies, and interests away from music do you like to engage in when you have the free time to do so? And how do you manage the work/family/career balance that has to take place, do you have the support for your music endeavors of your friends and family?

Daniel Olaisen (Guitars) – Don’t fall of the chair, but I actually spend a lot of time on football. I still play active football and I am pretty good too, hehe. I watch a lot of football as well. My daughters are grown-ups and manage themselves. And I work shift, so I have a lot of time off. My wife and watch a lot of TV series and we have a dog and two cats to take care of as well. My close family supports me of course!

SOURCE – What’s on the agenda for Blood Red Throne over the next six months?

Daniel Olaisen (Guitars) – The release of our 9th album and then shows every month for the next year!
