Fight The Fight

Lord Fredrik Teig Bergstrøm (Guitar, main vocals) – Hey, its Lord Fredrik from Fight The fight and its my pleasure to be here to answer your questions.

SOURCE – How are things for the band in the Norway at the moment?

Lord Fredrik Teig Bergstrøm (Guitar, main vocals) – Well, its been 3 years of writing, figuring out what we were going to do going forward or if we would even keep going…

SOURCE – The latest single is Monarch – and it’s taken three years for the follow-up to be released. What circumstances took place for this lengthy break between records (outside of the pandemic), and where do you see the similarities or differences from the first part of this series?

Lord Fredrik Teig Bergstrøm (Guitar, main vocals) – Between our last record “Deliverance” and our upcoming release there has been some huge changes in the band infrastructure. We were unsure were we should be going forward, and things got even more complicated when Lars didn’t want to be part of the band anymore. Me and Amok went up to my cabin in the mountains of Norway with a full home studio rig when the pandemic started and started recording the first riff for the album. We came down with 3 new songs for the album which guided us in a new direction. As we kept on making songs, i started writing some weird lyrics that beginned to form the story for this concept album.

SOURCE – Is it a challenge at this point to decide what songs to premiere from the new album, to give the right first impressions for what people can expect on the record?

Lord Fredrik Teig Bergstrøm (Guitar, main vocals) – For this album its extremely difficult to choose what songs should premiere as the singles because this is a concept album that you really need to hear from start to finish to understand the context and the story behind it. “Monarch” alone simply dosen’t tell the context of the story, as all the songs are connected.

I consider this album just one long song and story to be told and i cant leak anything more than that at this point I am afraid.

SOURCE – What do you see as some of the biggest challenges Fight The Fight faces this deep into your career? Is it a balancing act between musical duties and personal responsibilities with families, relationships etc.?

Lord Fredrik Teig Bergstrøm (Guitar, main vocals) – We are all guys with fulltime jobs, relationships and everything that comes with those things. All the spare time, energy and money we had leftover we put into making this album happen.

SOURCE – How do you view the state of the metal scene within Norway and beyond – are there specific styles that you think are gaining more traction globally, and are there any changes you would like to make for the greater good of everyone involved?

Lord Fredrik Teig Bergstrøm (Guitar, main vocals) – Personally I think the scene in Norway is at a good place. Here are some of my favorites.

Leprous (metal? I don’t care this is the shit), Fixation, Atena, Halcyon days and Hypermass. If you get the chance go see any of these band you should definetly go.

SOURCE – What worries or concerns do you have about the world that we live in today? Where do you think the leaders of the world need to put more time, energy, and focus on so that future generations will benefit from these measures?

Lord Fredrik Teig Bergstrøm (Guitar, main vocals) – Well the obvious answer is all these war-mongering world leaders wanting to dominate the world. I think we could solve alot of problems in the world if we had a max age limit for presidency. Lets say between 40-55 years maximum.

SOURCE – I read an article that said there are four million songs on Spotify that have never been played even once. Given the sheer quantity of music available for listening on streaming services, doesn’t that make it even more difficult to be discovered? (source:https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2013/10/11/songsonspotify/)

Lord Fredrik Teig Bergstrøm (Guitar, main vocals) – I would agree with you on this one. But if you are a musician you have to make your music for yourself first, and if anyone catches on to it thats just a bonus if you ask me.

SOURCE – What’s on the agenda for Fight The Fight activities over the rest of 2023 into 2024?

Lord Fredrik Teig Bergstrøm (Guitar, main vocals) – The plan is to pump out 2 – 3 more singles, then have a kickass release party in Oslo on the day of the release. Hopefully get on a european tour as a support act for a fitting band. And i guess start writing music for the follow up to this album again.

Thanks for having me, hope you will check out the album when it drops.
