Brief:

Started out as a trio, Mansion is kartano in Finnish. Full band came together in 2012. The “Uncreation” EP was supposed to be their debut album, but, due to technical issues, they had to cut two tracks off it. Those were re-recorded later and released as the “Altar Sermon” EP.

Kartanoism was a small religious cult that operated in Finland from the 1920s to the 1950s. At its peak the cult had slightly fewer than one-hundred members. It is named after Alma Maria Kartano, one of its leaders. Kartanoism’s key tenet was strict asceticism. Sex in particular was strictly prohibited, even within marriage. Kartanoists also believed that the second coming of Jesus was very imminent, and that prior to the rapture God’s wrath would be wrought on the unbelievers. When the “Winter War” between Finland and the USSR broke out in 1939 the Kartanoists believed that it was the beginning of God’s wrath.

Second Death is a dark and abundant album, rich and indescribable but exciting from start to finish, just like Mansion, a singular band in many ways. A perfect entrance in the rich universe of Mansion!
